Default Cruise Control not working discov 2001

Hello everyone. I'm new to these forums but could anyone help me with my prob above. My cruise cntrl in my 2001 Discov has just stopped working. I can hear all the relays under the dash working and the switch on the brake pedal isnt picked up so i guess all that stuff is ok. Now what about these hoses around the engine to check for cracks. Can someone tell me where they all are and how many to check? Am i missing something else to check also?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.

Default RE: Cruise Control not working discov 2001

I've got a 95 Disco so I hope these are the same. There is a diaphram on top of the engine that actually holds the trottle cable when the cruise is on. There is a hose that comes out the back of that and goes down to a T. One side of the T goes in the cabin and terminates at a vaccum switch that is mounted on a bracket on the brake structure. The other part of the T goes to a small vaccum pump that is under the jack and behind the headlamp. This thing is in a bad place to get to.

I hope this helps. I was working on this Saturday.

Hi
I have 96 Dscovery I had same problem you have now.
I got a good help from one of the member, I followed the dirction and I fixed it, It is easy.
Open the hood near break boster ( the round things) there are hoses which connected by a T shape connector.
Follow the line and find out if there is a crack. Most likely there are some or one crack. Change the hoses it shoud be fine.

I had the same prob. and had a cracked hose. Behind the battery and jack there is a small cluster of hoses those are your vaccum lines that is what it could be. just take it off and repalce it you can get the hoses most any auto store.
This is on a 1999 disco2
good luck matt

Ditto. This worked just fine, I think I ended up getting fuel line hose of the correct diameter and just cutting it to length. Works like new.

Clarification for D2 cruise.

D2's do NOT have the "t" (and the vacuum line to the brake pedal, like the D1's setup). There is only one vacuum line from the vacuum pump to the throttle cable diaphragm. Both are on the passenger side fenderwell (NAS) on the same bracket.

The throttle cable diaphragm is on top (with the cable to the throttle body). The vacuum line attaches to the opposite side of the diaphragm.

The vacuum line travels to the top of the diaphragm bracket, then travels down the middle of the bracket (protecting it) and comes out the bottom, not far from the exhaust manifold, turns 180 degrees toward the bottom of the vacuum pump and attaches there. The vacuum pump is attached to the same bracket, below the throttle cable diaphragm.

The D2 uses an electrical signal from the brake light switch (on the brake pedal) to disengage the cruise ECU (no need for the brake pedal vacuum line, like the D1).

Default Vacumm line appears good

I also have a cruise control problem on my 2000 discovery II. I removed one end of the vacumm line and manually collapsed the diapham and covered the hose end. It held vacuum. It would seem this is a test for the hoses? Is there anything else I should check? I have put a new brake switch in just to be sure. My light comes on for cruise on the switch so if there was a fuse controlling the device, would that be adequate to establish the fuse for the system is working?
thanks

Default cruise control or stereo

I replaced my oem stereo with oem from 2000 disco2 and now my cruise will only work when the stereo is turned off. It boggles my mind, of course I don't know the electrical schematics for the Disco2. I have always assumed they were more complex than the space shuttle's wiring schem.

new electrical fan (in 2010) & oem stereo (6/2012)
