Default Discovery II Intermittent trouble Starting Immobilizer?

I have a 2000 Disco II 4.0 which will
-will not start 30 min to an hour after parking when engine is both hot and cold
-will randomly randomly cut out when in Park
-Problem occurred within a week and seem to be gradually more frequent.

Everything seems to be fine
-Runs great
-FOB key locks and unlocks doors
-no blown fuses or trouble codes.
-Engine cranks over
-Except fuel pressure and spark which were both absent during the episode

I have read forms about Pre 99 Discovery having the same symptoms due to problems with the Spider/ engine immobilizer unit however the Disco II has a BeCM which controls the engine immobilizer/alarm. The only lead I have found is that the BeCM may need to re-sync with the ECU. But it starts sometimes and sometimes not?? Any have any possible leads or fixes? Am I on the right track thinking its the BeCM/immobilizer?

-Cheers

carry a bottle of water on you because the crankshaft position sensor is going bad.pour it on the back on the driverside after it stalls and the cold water will get it to start again by cooling it down.

Thanks so much for the fast reply. I was on the wrong track. I read up more on the carankshaft position sensor symptoms and did the trick you mentioned. Just got done swapping out the sensor and no more trouble! Nice diagnosis!

Yes, your crank sensor is failing.
