Electrical Issues
It's not been my week. I changed out coil packs, wires, plugs, MAF, O2's and VC gaskets this week, and I've still got the same rough idle and p0300/p0301 codes that I started with. Just when I thought I couldn't feel any lower, now I discover the Cruse control, front and rear wipers, and front and rear fog lights no longer work..the circuits do not even appear to be energized. While removing the manifold, it shorted across the hot alternator lead and ground.. I checked the fuses wipers, fog lights, cruise and none were blown any ideas?
You did not say what vehicle you have, but from your faults I going to guess a Disco 2. Your misfire is probably a sticking exhaust valve, cylinder 1. All your electrical issues for those components are controled by both the IDM and the BCU. You may have fried one or both with your fireworks show. ibis1
Thanks, you might be right on the valve, their is a ticking sound that wasn't their before and it is at a much, much lower frequency than the RPM's.. I'll try some miracle in a bottle, as far as the electrical issues, a new development yesterday..I was driving the truck and it started raining... and all the electrical stuff started working, front and rear wipers, front for lights, and seat heaters.. I have a feeling there is a common ground that is lose or fried, the rain allowed for grounding... does anybody know where the ground lugs would be for the seat heaters, wipers, and front fog lights?
I found my electrical fault.. I knew it was a ground issue because I was hot to the fuse panel, and NO blown fuses. A lack of ground on the end of the circuit had to be the problem. The front and rear wipers, front fog lights, and heated seats were not working. I couldn't find a wiring diagram, but the RAVE manual showed all the "earth" locations under harnesses. The one in the foot well was the culprit and all is well now.
