Hi All, New to the forum, but i thank you for your help, i had the very same problem, with the thought of a very large repair bill i took to the internet.
At the same point on my daily commute the car would drop into limp mod with ESF Special Programs Off.
Having not long had a new Battery i first check the Two hoses to the turbos and 1 had a large split in. Changed it that day (2 weeks ago) and pleased to report I've not had the problem since. So again thank you!

Engine message with no loss of power and special programmes with a loss of power. I have just my egrs replaced. My turbo had seized but the garage freed it up, but I’m guessing maybe the turbo!
