Default engine wont turn over

97 discovery was working fine. Son came over to redo the seats was using the radio in the truck and got worried he was running battery down so put charger on it till he was done. Went to start truck and it doesnt do nothing. I checked the battery and it reads 14 volts. any ideas where to go next will be appreciated.

Are the cable connections solid? If so, try cleaning all the connections including ground at the body/frame.

Check the positive (red)connection to the starter and the ground(black) cable from starter to frame/body.

Default still starting problem

Put all new cables and ground wires along with new starter I had here. Turn key and acts like something shorting out. Any ideas what to do next will be appreciated. Thanks so far for all your help.

I'm stumped. Try posting in the discovery 1 section, there are a few electrical wizards there that can probably help.

Did your son do any mods to the electrical when working on the seats?
