hahaha. wow. The part about getting a rad roded out for $400 is $100 less than what I was quoted. I just bought a new one because it would be sure to last..... Do you not use a heater in your rover?

Well, in sunny San Juan not much need for heaters, and you might find that your could get that window channel from one of the parts dismantlers around here on the site, shipping to PR from US mainland is not too bad.

It's a lot easier if reference it always made from the drivers seat.

The fan was the reverse fan and I'm going to lose my $40 machine shop investment and probably cost of fan. Won't be the first mistake I was helped to make on this rebuild. (Don't flame me on this one PT!)
How did you end up with the wrong fan? Did they give you the wrong PN? Or was it packaged wrong?

There may be a slight difference on your quote. I had mine rodded out for $65. But when I called the same shop back and asked what it would cost to re-core (replace all the tubes and supporting fins, which are copper on a D1), I was quoted $3 - $400, because of the price of copper and labor involved. So a simple rod out may be inexpensive, but if it needs complete rebuild it is probably 75% of the cost of a new one.

There is a gringo price on everything. I made the $400 number up. They told me it was functioning at 20%...well there you go. I got the acid bath and the complete rodding for $87 incl. tax. It looks super clean and the guy told me it was a great rad and I could use it for many more years.

We're installing the gauge today as well. I'm gonna go through antichrist's thread to see how to do it.

You don't do AC...I don't do heat. Black truck, no headliner or carpets in PR and I'm making pizza inside.

The window channel and glazing is about $20 at AB. Shipping would be another $16 because they don't use USPS. I tried to order from Utah again but they didn't have it.

Advance sold me the reverse fan. The box is universal for all the fans including flex but the stickers say regular fan. Their mistake. My loss.

We're going to finish this afternoon and do some heat measuring.

With the new SD viscous, fan (when I replace that), water pump, oil pump, rad reno, 160 thermostat and coolant mix w/ water wetter, my expectations are low...as in cooooooooool.

I'll let you know. Thanks.

Hmmm...their mistake shouldn't be your loss. They should, IMO, give you the correct fan and at least a store credit for the machine shop fee.
But then, I'm a big fan of doing my best to make the customer happy.

Yeah...they don't really work that way...I'm the same and I appreciate that. I can either try and sneak it through and get my $27 back losing the $40. Or I can risk it all and say I machined it and risk them not taking it back. There's a guy there that might help me. I've made more costly mistakes for sure.

I just fixed up and cut my grill today so I'm psyched about that. Also my gauge looks great but now I have to find the t-connector. That and more importantly maybe curing my overheating blues.

I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy that you ask but I need to show something completed. I'm doing a few things that are in my comfort zone now on the aesthetic side. I'll post 'em soon.
