Angry hard to select gears n crunching

Hi i have a 300tdi and it would not go into any gears, Partner thought it was clutch so replaced that and also the flywheel housing as that was cracked.
Now the clutch and the housing is in, Went to try it today and it is doing the exact same thing. finding it hard to get in gears up or down and scrunching like mad. Went to check clutch cylinder tonight and checked the bell housing and flywheel housing ad both have cracked in the exact same place as before.
Any ideas would be gratefully thankful. Many thanks in advance

A drain of fluid from the manual gear box may reveal metal pieces. While rebuild of the gearbox is possible, and the RAVE has documentation on this, a used trans from a breaker (salvage, junkyard, boneyard) or a dismantler (who specializes in Rovers) might be a faster approach. It is easier to replace a transmission as a unit than rebuild the innards. A used transmission near me is about $125 US.

Are you saying both the flywheel housing and bell housing are caracked? That's very unusual. It's possible, I suppose, that there is a severe alignment issue. On the otherhand I've had bother motor mounts and gearbox mounts completely shot and not had the housings crack.
But incorrect alignment is all I can think of at the moment. I have gearboxes pretty much disentigrate and not cause the housings to crack.

Possibly the release lever is binding so severely it's causing the housing to crack. That would explain the grinding when trying to shift.

Please post the outcome.
