Default Have to change brakes every year????

I am brand new on here, and searched around for a bit, but didnt find anything on here about this issue. Sorry if I skipped over it. I really want to buy a LR3, but from what I am hearing I will need to get the brakes changed every 17k miles or so and it will cost over $500!! Can this be true? Any way to save money on this? I really want one, but am not going to if I have to spend all this cash just on brakes. Thanks

Not sure on the LR3s, but my 04 Disco goes through brakes about every 25k. Heavy rigs.... I do pull some trailers in the summer, but they have electric brakes so shouldn't be adding wear. Do not get the brakes done at the dealer. Way inflated. Should be able to get an independent shop to do it for about half.

most go thru front brakes every 36k on average.

Some go a little quicker depending on traffic conditions. if you drive long distances then they go a bit longer and in the city shorter.
