Default Help me diagnose this sound?

FIXED. See post #4 for details.

The problem was a staccato like noise emanating from the rear of the car when running cold. It disappeared a few minutes after running.

Some specifics:
Vehicle is a 2009 LR2 with 64,500 miles. It's my daily driver and driven 50/50 city and highway.

I can only reproduce the noise after the vehicle has been sitting idle for several hours. Typically this is first thing in the morning. The noise abates after about 2 minutes and or a few hundred yards of driving. The sound emanates from the rear of the vehicle. Also it it most pronounced when turning left or right though it does occur some whilst driving in a straight line.

Recent work which may be involved:
@63,500 miles I had the rear differential replaced. I have since learned this is a known problem on this model and model year.

@ 64,100 miles replaced rear axle and frozen/bound right rear CV joint. A similar noise to that which I'm hearing now precipitated this repair. (I have a hunch this is related to the differential repair but have no way of confirming)

Subsequent to the CV joint repair the noise I'm hearing now started. I'd describe it as a loud popping in staccato fashion.

My hunch is the anti-lock brakes may be the issue but I'm speculating.

Any ideas?

Seen a few rear wheel bearings go. But take it back to the guy that repaired it.

It's back with the shop that did the work now. Thanks.

Fixed.

Posting the fix in hopes it may benefit others.

My regular shop was unable to diagnose this so I took it to the dealer thinking perhaps they had encountered the problem. They surmised the shop that replaced the differential may not have used the correct fluids when replacing the differential so I had them replace the fluids. They also discovered the fluid for the Haldex unit was low so they brought it back to level. That looks to have fixed the problem as there is now no hint of the noise.

Thanks for reading.
