How different is a 03 Disco trans from a 97 Disco trans?

How different is a 03 Disco trans from a 97 Disco trans?
I have several Disco 1 transmissions and possible good price on a 03 Disco that needs a trans. I know very little about Disco 2s. So just wondering.

Both transmission units are of similar construction, with the ZF 4HP24 unit being 15 mm longer than the 4HP22 unit

The DII transmission could not be used in a DI without substantial modification. The DII transmission is electronically controlled whereas the DI is all hydraulic. I've never heard of anyone doing the conversion successfully and I doubt I ever will.
