So, Mike the key man came out. For $140.00 he made an extra key. Attempted to open it. When it didn't happen. He drilled the lock cylinder and opened the door. The car started with no problem. It took maybe 10 minutes. I highly recommend him.

Estimate on how much a new locking cylinder and reprogramming is going to cost? At least I can use my car right now.

Theres more than one way to break into a Rover..
A Coded door handle may be a couple hundred and a week or so to get. You may be able to find a used one with a key from one of the bone yards for cheap. I got some stuff from roverbones shipped to nj in 2 days.
You could probably replace the door handle yourself and that would include pulling the door panel. It's 1 screw holding the handle on and approx 6 phillips secrews holding the door panel on. while you're in there replace the latch. A couple more screws a clip or 2 and a cable.

I have no idea how much a new door lock is going to cost, I cant find one on the normal Rover supply web pages.
To have the remote programmed you are talking $100 or so for 5min work of work by the stealer.
I would talk to them about a new door lock, maybe they will cut you a deal on the lock and program of the remote.

 

if your replace the door lock be it new or used why is there a new for programing?
Your still have key's to start the truck, one key to open & another to start it; like a General Motors product.
