Yeah these engines are pretty simple, hardest part is pulling and reinstall , rest is simple and parts are cheap, you can have the heads ported, buy a cam , there's ways of tweeking to your needs/wants depending on your wallet lol

Being its a dizzy engine I know scouts is well versed and can give you pointers on where to spend extra money

Oh yeah, actually he could MegaSquirt his motor and make it crank fired ignition - dizzy delete, 4.6 short block and build from there.

I love it when you talk in Mork and Mindy language....

I did want to ask about the possibility of rebuilding it BUT, the wrath of you 2 while right in the middle of completing something much simpler was more than I wanted to go through.

I would definitely consider doing it....are there any specific build threads I could look at for my year? Is 4.6 an entirely different [short] block?

I doubt money would be an issue as I have been looking at having one shipped complete from Turner. Where would the machine work get done at and by who....many questions from this old patawon..

Dude we just poking and joking lol

But seriously you can do the rebuild, if scouts is saying you can go 4.6 that's like great, like I said I don't know the older dizzy ones at all , and used rebuildables are out there, turners are probly nice but you can get a ton of stuff done and save serious cash doing it yourself

Post your location and I am sure someone can point you to a good machine shop

600 miles+..I am still getting a clicking but only when it's cold or under a load. I need to get about 6 months out of her before I rebuild if possible. I have a 3 day window coming up and was thinking of replacing all the lifters and all the push-rods.

The two I replaced this lat time did not show any "noticeable" wear on the camshaft side.I know guys hate not replacing the camshaft at the same time but I have read guys that have done it with no issues.

What about the Rockers? At least if I have to do them later, they are easy to get at.

Thoughts????? Be gentle...... I have time constraints...

go for it, but i will guess at 245k miles your cam shaft doesn't even know what a lobe is.

I reused my cam, lifters, rockers

Just for ****s and giggles check your crank sensor harness , plug , etc
I am wondering if your issue is the timing is retarded, making the valves clatter, I guess the timing set could be beat too

Wow..that surprises me you reused the lifters but I'm glad to hear you did the rockers also..
Is there any adjustment installing the lifters? And is there a type of Assembly oil I need to use on them?

Well am getting ready to pull her into the garage and go to work. New pushrods...and lifters. I guess at worse if it doesn't fix the problem I'm $250.00 worth of parts closer to the rebuild.
