My lifters are noisy only when accelerating
The resister you are refering to above, which is located on the outside of the harness going to the MAF, isn't related to the EFI at all, or the MAF unit. It's in series with the hot wire to the coil and is intended to drop the voltage at the coil to about 12 volts (system is aprox. 14 volts when running) So far as I know, the tune resister is in the harness very close to the ECU. This varies from Defender, pre '96 Disco, and RR as the ECU is located differently, and harnesses all vary accordingly.
