My lifters are noisy only when accelerating
I didn't mean to freak out but I'm seeing things that need addressing.
Seeing the inside of the engine made me realize it's time to rebuild. I just need to get through the next month or so before I start. Band-Aids for now....Taking the intake manifold off has not been my idea of fun today but at least I could get to the lifters I had 2 in standby for the last year or so. [new]
The engine serial number you gave me isn't enough characters, again it's right at the dipstick, hard to see if it's grime covered which is normal. What I'm looking for is a "B" at the end of the character string. Unless you know you have a distributor run oil pump or crank spun gear-rotor pump. It is a 3.9 correct?
Okay Thanks...one last thing to do. Sorry for another question but, do you think I should drop the pan when I change the oil and clean it out? I was planning on it if I had ran that flush through it.
I would clean in the heads and lifter valley best you can with a tooth brush or whatever and some chemical to remove sludge and loose burnt crap, then drain oil before you start the engine cause all that crap will end up in the oil pan, no need to change filter just my .02
Well Scout got me pretty freaked out on filter contamination, so went and bought another mongo Mann 950 today. Not worth taking any more chances than I already am by driving it for 12 bucks.
Scout, I'll have to look in the daytime for the number, it's too dark in the garage I'm in to see it. I think it's a yes on the distributor but not 100%. It is a 3.9.
