There are those in our group that can recall when a quart of oil did not come with a plastic screw cap. Could not resist this at the auction today....

Not yet.....

 

I still have 2 or 3 of my old ones. I bought a posh chrome one with a nice rubber seal on it not long before oil quit coming in cans.

 

I recall speaking with the "pump boys" who proudly showed off the drain can they had on the island to let just used cans drip out the remaining oil. This of course was recycled by being poured into their personal cars. Yes, there really used to be guys who would fill up your tank, check the air in tires, wash windshield, check fluids and belts under hood. They did not miss an opportunity to sell wipers, a quart of whatever, point out a frayed belt, a cut tire, etc. Now days you are lucky if the surly clerk at the C store acknowledges your existence.

 

I remember oil in the can.
I drain my "empty's" into one another and recover a full qt sometimes.

 

I still have some beer cans laying around, that required a church key to open.

 

I wish the plastic bottles had the curved spout, so you don't have to worry about spilling oil all over the engine.

 

So cool. I haven't seen one of those in years.
