My rear passenger door will not open from the outside. It opens fine from the inside. The lock sounds like it is working correctly. The lock button on the door goes up and down when the locking switch is engaged.

Is there a problem with the outside latch or is the actuator gone? I have studied the RAVE manual and searched the forum. I would appreciate some input before I try to fix it or go to to a garage.

I had the same problem after some hard rain. I pried off the LR emblem on top of the plastic molding covering the handle and sprayed the inside good with a dry lithium grease. That helped free the mechanism on mine.

 

I got the courage to try to remove the door panel. It wasn't too hard. What I found out was that a dealer or a previous owner had replaced the shaft which attaches the latch to the opening mechanism with a cable tie. The cable tie broke causing the problem.

I replaced the broke one & all is good. We'll see how long it lasts.
