No need to get all four wheels off the ground, just put the transfer case in neutral and have the front wheels off the ground, then you can turn the drive shaft by hand to get to all the bolts.

Thats what I did originally. Didnt seem to move by hand til all four wheels were off the ground. Simple enough either way. Thanks again.

Hmmmm, I put the transfer case in neutral and lift one front tire to be able to rotate the front driveshaft. Spin the tire and the driveshaft should rotate.

Got the same noise for a while, exactly how it was described here. Today, I thought it disappeared and drove the turnpike and my disco started to vibrate. First I thought I need a tune up but after I took the exit, stopped on a 4 way stop and the drive shaft gave up. I was driving about -5 mph when it happened.

I'm talking about the transfer case not the transmission.
