Default Superlock problem...I think

I have read many threads on this and I know there are many questions but not many seem resolved and certainly none are quite the same. Apologies if I have missed an answer somewhere.

Ok ill start at the beginning.

Freelander 02 1.8 ES

Daughter lifted the handle as I remote unlocked. Now when the car is locked with one push the drivers side won't lock (but will trip alarm if opened). If I superlock it the drivers door lockes but then won't unlock.

HOWEVER I can unlock it from the inside, if, for example I open the passenger side door and reach over. It unlocks and opens it just fine.

Has anyone experienced this?

I was under the impression that if the car is superlocked I shouldn't be able to open the drivers door from the inside, suggesting to me that the door isn't superlocked, but I can't get the key in the door either.

I have read about disabling the super locking mechanism by cutting the wire. If I did this would I need to make sure everything was open. Possibly even opening the doors to ensure they don't get locked shut.

I don't normally advocate playing the helpless female card as I am actually pretty LR savvy but SO many posts are heavily technical so I could do with help in very simple terms!!

TIA!!

Sam

Can't comment on your problem, but can tell you that the superlock wire is the brown with pink one, goes to each superlock motor, and ends at pin 3 of connector C0430 on the central control unit. Cut it in a manner where it can be spliced back, tape up ends.

Superlock is supposed to disable inside latches, so it may not be your problems.

Shop manual set is called the RAVE and is a free downlaod link below.

Thank you. A little more digging around has me thinking its the door mechanism solenoid so I'm off to get one and either get it fitted or have a go myself. Anyone out there done one? Is it easy or should I take it in?

Here is the shop manual page on it. The whole shop manual is a free download in my signature. Let this guide you on which route to take: do it yourself; or Rover broke - call a bloke.
