Default "Suspension Fault" Light

Well it finally happened. After five virtually trouble free years of ownership, and the warranty expired, the "Suspension Fault" Light came on last week. I brought my 2006 LR3 to the local dealer. One hour and $1,120.00 later, the air suspension compressor was replaced. All is "good as new"

Except for my checkbook....

One interesting note, I watched the mechanic replace the compressor and it seemed rather easy. Three bolts, one wire, and a couple of hoses and the old one was out and the new one in (less than an hour). I went back to my office, did a little research online, and found the part brand new for under $600.00. Hmmm

I think IF there is a next time, I may be doing this myself...

I wonder if it needed the whole compressor or just the updated air drier assembly.
Kinda wonder if he read the bulletin and actually reprogrammed your air suspension module as well.

Regarding the compressor, besides the fault light coming on, the old compressor had also started making a distinct "clicking" or "ticking" noise every time it raised the vehicle.

Does that make any difference?

thats the intake valve opening up. Unless it was loud compressor action then its possible it only needed a drier. But if you live in salt country its not a bad idea to replace the compressor because the salt gets into all of the compressor and rots alot of stuff. It is a LR3/SPORT right. if its a full size range rover then they just need the drier and thats all.

It is an LR3. I would hate to think that all it needed was a dryer and I bought a compressor I didn't need .

I do have a very good relationship with this particular dealer, so I would like to think they treated me honestly...

Thanks for the help!

if you live in salt country trust me a new compressor isn't a bad thing. salt gets in all places of that and rots it out.
