Default Thermostat Won't Open - 2001 Discovery 2

There's a 2001 Discovery 2 where the thermostat won't open. Multiple new t-stats have been installed, from several suppliers, but none of them will open. Even putting the old one back on won't work. The AutoLogic scanner isn't picking up anything, and the Land Rover phone tech isn't available today. The water pump is working, and nothing is wrong with the radiator. It being air locked was suspected, but isn't the case. Any idea on what's going on?

Do you have heat, is it overheating, What is it doing besides not opening up?

Hoses hooked up backwards?

The upper hose assembly goes to the vertical port on the thermostat, the hose to the water pump outlet and recovery bottle goes to the angled port on the thermostat.

It is not the t/stats, you have to have done something wrong.
How do you know they are not opening, have you checked the temp with a scanner, are you sure you didn't switch the hoses

Bottom port on stat goes to lower radiator outlet. Upper center line port on stat goes to "T" fitting. Upper "Side arm" port on stat goes to water pump. What temps do you get with OBDII scanner?
