The batteries last a pretty good while and the system will go to sleep. I like the safety feature of how you have to hold the buttons down for 5sec or so & then it will be enabled vs oh I just tapped the in/out button and it came on causing damage or hurting someone. The mount is sturdy, the remote is sturdy, and just have a spare set of batteries for out on the trail and call it good.

Me personally, I like synthetic over steel, but hardly matters.
Either can break, the steel being even more dangerous.
And I have seen a Warn winch cable break...and break a windshield.
Regardless, if you don't have to be in the driver's seat, it sure is nice to be behind a tree or another truck, and out of harm's way, should the line, hook, or attachment point break.

Looks like a cool item. Me, l'm not much on the new wireless electronic stuff. Oh...who knows...maybe someday soon l'll get one of them-there cell phone thingies. I'm probably the only person on the planet...driving an old Dll and thirty some year old porsche(s) around in the summer without one...lol.

Superwinch already beat warn too it. Their top of the line winches can be controlled by an app. I think a solution is only as good as its backup. At one point my controller stopped working during a pull that I needed to get my Subaru outback over. Well I had to use jumper wires to make the winch spool in. Sure would of been nice to have a backup option like a wireless remote.

The Zeon comes with the remote and its USB rechargeable. I did an install a few months ago. Looks slick but can’t comment on durability.

Yep I always lay something over the cable no matter how small or large the job. Safety first! When I went off road nearly every weekend (back in my Jeep days). Everyone was jumping on the Synthetic line train.

I basically got 3 sets of perfectly good cable for free thinking I'd use them eventually. Well I used my Warn XD9000i nearly every weekend helping retrieve stuck Jeeps (at the time Rubicon's were rare, lockers were rare, and I honestly wasn't the one getting stuck unless I did something stupid). I owned that 05 Rubicon for 6 years off the showroom floor and the Warn XD9000i was installed within the first month. I always got home ran my line out, washed it down, checked for kinks, lubed it (WD40), and properly spooled it back up. I sold that Jeep with the same darn steel cable on it and I eventually gave those 3 spares to people where their Synthetic line had either been damaged from UV, or the truly unlucky ones that had it melt on the spool.

Yes Steel cable can snap and do horrific damage to a human being, but if handled and used properly, and replaced if it's kinked or damaged = it will last you a very very very long time.
