Default what is the correct ATF for a 2003 Disco II?

Doing a partial transmission fluid change on my 2003 Discovery II. I picked up Castrol Transmax Dex/Merc. Is this the right stuff?

Dexron III rated. If it says that on the bottle then you are good to go.

according to the RAVE the auto as well as the manual box should have the oil changed on every B service which is every 24 000miles or 40 000km. the Rave also states auto box filter change on first B service only. this is strange - what happens after?
it is the diffs that should have an oil change at 96 000km.

If it was changed by Rover at the 30,000 K service, you should be fine till the 100,000 service. As t gets older and if you wheel a lot you might consider changing the fluid every 20,000 K.

Exclamation Transmission fluid for Discovery II

Do any of you lot read the Discovery Owner's Handbook? I have the 2004 discovery II SE7, and on page 239, it states the following: "Automatic Gearbox: Use Castrol TQ Dextron III or Transmax Z." On page 240, it states the Automatic Gearbox takes 10.2 quarts of ATF or 9.7 liters. It is very hard to completely drain the transmission, so go to the British Atlantic video on how to change the transmission fluid.
