I am having some problems with my disco2 (never ending story) and I couldnt find a solution to one of them. I would really appreciate if yall can help me out.
I have a disco2 and the drivers door lock actuator wasnt working so I replaced it. I put everything back into place and put the key in to lock/unlock but it doesnt turn left/right at all! I took the part out to take a look at it but I dont see anything weird (actually I have no idea about how it suppose to look anyway ).I tried to clean it and used a ton of wd40 but it didnt help at all.
What should be my next move?

Can you turn the key with the door handle removed? If so:

Is the "Mace" end inserted into the white cross hair section on the door lock actuator when you put it in?

 

No, key doesnt turn even when the handle is seperated from the car.
what is white cross hair? ))

 

It's the plastic "female " receiver for the door lock pin.

Did the lock move with the key prior to changing out the actuator? If not, maybe you have a mismatched set of ignition and door lock?

That's all I got, I'm stumped on the no turning. You will have to disassemble I guess. Have you tried flipping the key? The pins/wafers in the lock only read one side of the key.

 

I was always using the remote to unlock the doors so I have no idea...my gf (its her truck) says she used it before.
I am already super tired of trying different things to make it work but i am done. My last question is, even if i dont connect the lock cylinder to the actuator, controller should still work right? I am planing to put everything back together but not even connecting it to the actuator. Because right now not even the actuator works! even after replacing it

 

I am guessing that the key never worked, but your GF knows best. A lot of times people replace the ignition due to stickiness or other issues. Another thing you could do is take the door handle to a locksmith and have him see if the key is the right one. They can put a soft metal blank in and move it around to make marks on the blank which will give them an idea of the key shape

Not sure how many remotes you have, but if only one you might want to invest in another in case one is lost. If you close the door using the remote, then lose it, the alarm will be set and if you break in, you could have bigger issues.

It should still work if not connected.

With door handle removed, Roll down the window with the actuator in place, close the door and try the remote, see if it locks. Then replace the door handle and do the same.

I need to make the door work first so she doesnt need to pass thru an obsticle course every time she needs to drive it hahahaha
in this forum somewhere i have seen a way to control the wires which sends the current and signals to the actuator. i will do that if i can find the info again and i will check the fuse which i dont think the problem is. because all the other doors+trunk works.

 

So now it is my truck, not my gf since she dumped it to me due to so many problems haha (better for me!).

I am still having this issue, door handle is disconnected,
i tried 3 actuators(other than the one that came with the car) and they all act the same way!
what i do is,
i install the actuator on the door, plug the wire, sit into the car, close the door, lock it from the remote and i put my hand behind the actuator and pull the little metal piece(where the door handle should be attached to) and it doesnt open the door. So everything is good til here. But when I unlock it from the remote and do the same thing again, it doesnt unlock the door! I can still open the door by pulling the inside handle cable but not via the metal circle.
How does it send the 'signal' to unlock the door? How can I test it? I feel like it does send a signal to lock but something wrong(maybe a lose cable or something) on the unlocking part. It is really weird that 4 actuators are all faulty the same way!!!
