Default 2013 LR2 crankshaft pulley brokedown

hi everyone am shahid from Dubai, i am new to this forum and also new to land rover, recently i had an issue with my car 2013 LR2 HSE (2.0) i felt minor jerks while cruising at 80-100km/hr i took it land rover service centre but they didn't felt anything as it was minor and felt sometimes. so i kept driving it thinking it shouldn't be bad and i'll sort it out on next service. but since last week i felt vibrations around cornering and yesterday i went to get my coffee and came back to car and try to start it, it started but my steering got jammed, no ac and car temperature was rising and i heard something is broke so i leaned down n saw it was crankshaft pulley. i towed car to land rover service centre.
They inspect my car today and informed me about crankshaft pulley replacement. i asked them about cost of repair they quoted 4400aed($1200) after discount. i rang other workshop and they quoted 2000-2500aed(600-680$) all original parts. cost will come down further if i buy from local market
now i am confused what to do as agency guy said i will be having warranty for this parts for about year(20k km).
i intend to keep car for next one or two years please need your opinion regarding this.

If it is out of warranty and you only want to keep it another year or two, why spend more? The answer is obvious.

Feel comfort in knowing all work and parts from LR include a 1 year warranty.

Thanks Shahid for explaining the scenario. I have the same vehicle and exactly the same issue. Based on your experience, when I checked the pulley, it seemed ok, but the inner rubber part was moving slightly and this was affecting the car while driving around 80-100 kms as you mentioned. I got the part from the dealer for around $350/- and had my local mechanic install for $300 (4 hour job).

It was not as simple as in these engines, once the timing is off you need to go all the way and reset the timing. I already had the timing tools off amazon and they helped save considerably instead of going to the dealer. Do not attempt to set the timing without the tools as you will never get it perfect.
For anyone wants to DIY, You need to open the valve cover, remove the axle and install the timing nut to find the TDC, lock the flywheel down (under the starter), position both the cam shafts, position the crankshaft pulley and the lock the crankshaft pulley nut. (always get a new nut). Last task is to position the crankshaft sensor on the 20th teeth of the pully. Engine runs like new now.
This engine is the the Ford 2.0L EcoBoost and same procedure applies and any ford mechanic can work on these. There are enough videos on youtube on this procedure that guided me through this.
