Default LR3 to LR2 down sizing

I have a 2005 LR3 SE V8 which is a great vehicle to have. Because of the gas prices I was thinking about getting an LR2 because I still go off road sometimes and like having the ability. Just shooting out some feelers on what people think about this. Thanks.

lr2, has alot of spunk, just no low range and smaller clearance. but with a decent set of tires you will be surprised. plus alot less problems with the engines and transmissions. Its basically a volvo chassis so lots of parts are the same as a volvo.

That is good to hear about the LR2. I will see soon if it is the path I want to go. When I look at the youtube videos of the LR2 going through stuff I am amazed but no one, I guess takes it off road. I, on the other hand, take my LR3 off road and "test" it out on a regular basis. If I was going to just drive it on the street I would have gotten a buick , but if I get an LR2, it is going off road.

Does it come with skid plates?

We take all of our rovers off road. Our LR2 is VERY capable. you just have to have the right tires, and Know how much ground clearence you have. I went off roading in Northern Va with some hardcore guy landrover guys, who kind of made fun of my LR2...until they saw that it did EVERYTHING their modified Discos, and Defenders could do! It even traversed a stream that was a couple of feet deep!!! I highly recommend this little truck... and I've had no issues that i had with my older discovery.. VERY solid little truck!
