Yes, of course there is a latch button on the fob for the rear tailgate.
But how often is the fob in my hand once I’m seated in the vehicle… never. The fob remains in my pocket. There should be a button on the dash or on the door panel…. clearly an oversight.
Jeepers… I may have just justified a need fir the new defender…. following some depreciation, of course

Cheers!
Well, to be honest, how often do you need to open the rear hatch from inside the cabin?

Don’t cut them some slack! ;-).
You should be backing me up on the defender idea!

Guy,

Enter your VIN into the decoder

https://www.vindecoderz.com/

My 2008 has

Door Locking Mode - Central Door Locking inc Tailgate/Door [076DC]

Does your 2013 have 076DC?

More info

Take care

Paul

That might be my next one, after the LR2 goes off to college in a few years.

Any idea who makes the drivetrain? A big OEM, or english garden gnomes?

The point of what I was saying is that if the FOB doesn't have to be in a slot, that might explain why they though it OK to remove the feature to unlock the rear hatch from the dash.

I have not heard good things about the new Defender. In fact, all I have heard is bad reviews about the truck.

I'll definitely give it a couple years for the dust to settle, not going to fly the A model of anything haha.
