2005 lr3 4.4
Trip to FL put on about 1000 miles I began to notice a faint tick on acceleration and at higher speeds only on highway stops when I let off the pedal. Could it need a valve adjustment Running Mobil 5-30 about 2k miles on this oil and LR oil filter.
honestly, at 130,000 miles I’ve only replaced the plugs because the engine runs so good maybe needs a tuneup thinking about switching to liquid Molly 530 any thoughts on the noise or the oil change to liquid Molly any input welcome thank you.
Still in Florida next fill up going to add a can of liquid Molly fuel injector cleaner. Thanks for the input.

Could very well be an exhaust manifold leak. A known issue. Just need to tighten down all the exhaust manifold bolts. But getting to all of them is a pain as access is in the wheel wells and you have to remove a cornucopia of small heat shields that have been put together like a puzzle designed by a drunk. But other than that, easy.

I bought a can of Liquid Moly injector cleaner and added it to a full tank of Mobil new fill station Ten minutes into the drive I thought it sounded slightly less. Another 15 minutes during acceleration to 75mph it totally disappeared! So in conclusion dirty gas and 129,000 miles noisy fuel injectors( is it possible?)on a 2005 LR3 never being tuned up except for new plugs at 75,000 miles because the 4.4 runs so good.
any thoughts on tune ups or updates on this engine? Thanks for any input
I tested and replaced a few of my injectors back in 2024 with 19 years and 180k miles. I had a faulty injector that had too much resistance within the internal relay. The injectors can be pricy so I recommend testing rather than just replacing them. There's a guy on the east coast who can test them and give you a report. Forgot his name and website.
