2006 LR 3 with 176k getting water in taillights
Hi folks,
I was changing out one of my back up lights today and noticed a lot of water in the bottom of the tail light assembly. Pulled the rear fog light bulb so I could empty it out. Dried it all out really well, thankfully no corrosion yet. Then checked the other side and found the same thing. A considerable amount of water in that one too. Luckily that one had not started corroding either so it must be a fairly recent problem. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and if they found the cause and solution? No cracks whatsoever in the assemblys, seals for bulbs very tight so the water is obviously coming from the top of the assembly but how it is getting in I have no idea. Would the drain channels around the hatch being a little clogged cause something like this? There was some debris, not terrible, but still some old stuck leaf litter. Any help most appreciated!

Never heard of this being an issue. The assemblies are water tight. I have had them under water, briefly, with no issue too. I could only think they are operating or the lamps are not all the way twisted in.

l know, very odd, right? The assemblies seem like they would be impervious to water. I probably will have to run the hose over them to see if I can duplicate the heavy nonstop rain we just had to see if I can figure it out. But the bulb assemblies were all locked down, sealed tight. Very strange. If I figure out I will post it!

I've never seen this as well. Maybe a hairline crack somewhere or a seam that is very slightly cracked
Get yourself some Captian Tolley's Creeping Crack Cure. This stuff is absolutely amazing. I use to get it from a local Camping World. Its available on Amazon now.

It can definitely happen. I've had mine full of water multiple times, mostly because of moisture. I have hairline cracks on the taillight, not sure if they are letting air/moisture in or if one of the seals isn't properly sealing. Its 2 screws to undo the housing and pour it out.
