I never said you used it for towing, just to inspect for the installation of the wiring for it. Cause there have been cases were old trailer harness wiring was installed poorly then cause issues. And yes, check the connections as I mentioned before. If you won't do the things we recommend, then there is no point to continue unless those things are eliminated as possibilities.

 

OK I will check the trailer wiring (is there a reference for its location?)

There are vulnerable connections behind the battery that do need to be inspected. I took these pics when I first started digging into mine. It’s not terribly difficult to check once you pull the battery.

Quick update

So I puller all the wiring including the silver box from behind the battery. disconnected , cleaned and replaced.
Checked all the fuses in the engine fuse box

Car started but immediately shut off when I applied the brake,

Now sometimes starts, sometimes nothing at all

Other times wipers/hazards etc.

Scan tool continues to state that car has lost communication.

Will look to tackle the towing harness next!

 

Did you have time to pull the knee panel and inspect for a remote start system? The panel just pulled straight out from the top side. Good yank. Look all over under the steering area for anything that does not appear to be factory.

 

Now only the radio working... everything else is non responsive!
