Full time 4wd (with a center diff) is just better for driving on icy roads, espcially if they aren't straight. Some Jeeps and Toyotas have this feature, but you always have to pay extra for it.

There will always be people that can drive into a ditch, no matter how capable their vehicle is.

Same here. Although, I must say, the LR3 has my DII beat in terms of electronics magic on ice. She's unbelievably stable.

we got a bit of ice this morning around these parts, got to use my new straps!
helped a couple up a slick hill, feels good

I actually did just fine with a 99 Dodge Ram 4x4 with a manual trans. It has a limited slip rear, and I could gear down for stopping without locking up. Now that I bought a D1 though, I want it to snow at least one more time
