Default Amber Parking Brake Light

Just had the amber parking brake illuminate (constant) with a parking brake fault message in the information center.

2006 LR3 HSE with 35,800 miles.

Fluid is a little low due to the normal wearing of pads and the increased travel of the caliper piston, but still well above the minimum.

I am the same guy who has the DVD/NAV problem and will eventually take the LR3 in for that, but do I need to take it in immediately for the brake issue?

Should I check for any quick fixes beofre taking it to the dealer?

Thanks for the assist!

Ynot

I would agree with the switch prognosis. The only time I ever had that light (along with the usual Christmas tree) the switch was intermittent.

umm no by a million years. its called diagnosis, not throwing parts at it. There are tons of bulletins for the codes that infect the system and yes you will need to get it diagnosed.

alot of the issues on that system is wiring related.

well..... here in UK not a single D3 i worked on had a wiring problem
vast majority of faults are lack of adjustment and "coffe over the switch" issue
wondering if all wiring issues are reserved for US market - maybe???
if so im sorry for sharing my experience (based on European spec)

And yes im using SDD/IDS system on a daily basis and yes again im reading
TSB's using them as guidelines
but when asked for help my answers are based on my own experience

My apologies for the impression. Every problem is different. To put a little humor on the subject. Nobody wants to take the fun out of a little help forum.
