Default CarPlay install and hardwire to Aux input

Hi all, I have 2008 LR3 with no navigation screen. I purchased the Carpuride 703 CarPlay unit and with the 3.5 pin ran to the rear seat input it works fabulously - it also works really well feeding the sound into the FM. However, I want to hardwire into the aux plug on the rear of the radiator. I've soldered into the wires and the sound level is low. It just sounds like half the system is not working. Any suggestions?

Update
I had a hunch and it was on the right track. If I plug a 3.5 male socket in the rear aux port everything works perfectly. The issue is now that I don't want to leave a plug in there all the time. What is the wiring solution? Thx

I haven't solved the circuit that needs to be completed but cut down a 3.5 plug and put in the rear aux socket for now. Great unit. $109. Next week will be running the backup camera it came with. Pic below and video with sound in link. I'm dead chuffed!

Have you read this thread?

in post #14 lonerangie said there are dual ground wires on the radio. Linking these apparently solves the low aux volume Issue. I can’t really speak to this, so maybe message them directly.
My setup is different enough that the low volume issue doesn’t really affect me. ( phone Bluetooth, through a Garmin tread that offers touchscreen music control, then to another Bluetooth adapter plugged into the rear aux port) It’s maybe 2 clicks lower then the FM radio.
