Couple questions from a newbie
My 2006 LR3 sits outside. There hasn't been a problem starting it in Minnesota this winter, even in some really cold weather.
Yesterday I went to start it and it turned over a few times and then wouldn't crank anymore. Turned it off, waited a minute, and tried again. Same thing.
Had to be somewhere, so came back several hours later and tried it. Turned over longer, but the result was ultimately the same.
Jumped it and it started up immediately. Runs fine, and starts fine now.
We did have some odd weather with rain, rain snow mix, snow, then rain snow mix again. Temperature outside was all over the place.
It sat for about 2 days, but it has many times with no issues at all. And when I drove it the last time, no starting issues and no hard cranking were necessary.
Any ideas on what's going on? Also, if it is the battery, is there some special procedure to change it; meaning do I have to reset anything in order for it to start after disconnecting and reconnecting the batter?
Thanks in advance for your help.

See attached pages from shop manual. It is a lead calcium battery, it has specific process to swap, and some things like sunroof operation may have to be reset. There is an explosive charge associated with the positive terminal that is triggered in a crash to slice the battery connection. After reading all this you decide if you want to DIY, or have a reputable indy shop or battery shop, or dealership. Would advise against places like auto parts stores and discount big box stores. Show these pages to the person planning to do the work.
comleader, i also live in Minnesota (eagan) had an issue this winter with some hard cranking prior to starting, changed the battery and turns over fine now. i had the battery changed when i was getting an oil change at Expedition Auto.
