Default Fuel Tank Update (2006 LR3 V6)

Afternoon everyone,
Hoping to have some questions answered with the issue that I'm going through with my LR3 currently. I have a fuel sending unit that has failed on me that is giving me a gas light empty light even though it has gas. So being that I will have to drop the tank to replace the sending unit I figured why not replace both while I'm in there. Went to the local Land Rover dealership and got the replacement parts and to my surprise they do not have the correct electrical connectors on them. Gave the dealership another ring and was told that it had the updated fuel tank in it and that they should work. After going back and forth with them about the issues I was having and sending them pictures of the old vs new sending units I was told that I must order and install a new flange (one that probably has the updated connection points) and a body harness to flange jumper. My question is, does anybody know in depth what the fuel tank update involves that they did on our LR3's back in 2007-2008? To me it sounds like I myself am actually doing the update because I'm installing new/different sending units, flange, and jumper. By the way my vehicle is a 2006 LR3 V6 , any and all info is greatly appreciated

Thanks, John

I have a 2006 v6. When I started smelling gas, it was time to change to pump gasket. I bought both the new and old as I didn’t know if the update had been done. Apparently, I still had the old tank in the truck. I will tell you that taking out the pump and sender was difficult, I ended up breaking a plastic tab for the sender float. I was able to drill a hole and safety wire the float. Pretty easy job. The connector come off later and I lost the fuel gauge reading. I was able to push the connector back on without dropping the tank. Maybe it’s just loose on yours?
i have a thread on it here that might help https://landroverforums.com/forum/lr...op-tank-91185/

I went through all of this and learned the hard way. Same year and model as you, with the V6. See the down-low here: https://landroverforums.com/forum/lr...-idiocy-94084/
