Default GET RID of Crappy LR3 thermostat housing

Anybody ever come up with a way to do away with the crappy plastic thermostat housing and just "Re Hose" the entire section with some brass or whatever metal pieces and some new hosing. Replace the crappy system that was on my D2 and was wonder if anyone did the same with a LR3

I dunno... I dont think they are that bad. They generally last over 175k miles. So in the life of the truck they should only need replacement once. The only issue is the cheap ones that are made of crap plastic that can fail early. Also there is a proper way to torque them to reduce stress on the housing. The upper bolts that face the front first, the bottom. If you tighten the bottom bolts first then there could be a little torque created by doing the uppers last since they pull the housing backwards.

maybe previous owner put a cheap amazon part. Any recommendations other than OEM LandRover. Was thinking of replacing all hoses as well due to my son having to mix coolant types when he was in Germany, But AB wants $700 for the kit.

OEM only. Anything else is a gamble, could last years or just weeks. REIN would maybe be the only brand I trust for that part. But who knows if they just rebox a cheap one or not, no way to know. But most of their stuff it really good.

As for all the hoses, I did all but the heater core hoses and outlined the part numbers/brands and costs here:
