Hi. The headlight auto switch control works in the base model? I understand is needed for the OEM bumper fog lights too.

 

I don't know about the Base model but on the SE it was a direct swap in. If you are installing fog lights, I found the OEM lights to be of minimal brightness so I installed a set of LED road-approved fog/driving lights in the OEM fog location and wired them up and the fog / rain visibility improvement was dramatic.

Then you are controlling the aftermarket fog with the OEM control? Or you add additional wiring.

About the switch, fog light will be nice; but first I’m checking on having the auto light feature just changing the switch.

I can grab a pic and post. I kept them when I switched from the OEM bumper to the ARB offroad bumper, required some custom brackets but nothing that can't be addressed by some angle iron and a grinder. And yes, I wired them directly to the OEM fog light harness (lower wattage than the OEM halogen's so a relay was not needed). I also dropped in a pair of 7" hella driving lights for extreme lighting needs on top of the bumper.

 

Yes you can install the auto headlight switch into the base model.

I did it

You will need three things:

1. The switch
2. GAP tool
3. Rain Sensor

Installing the just the switch will not work. You will need to change the CCF setting and turn on the rain sensor. The rain sensor also measures how much light is outside for when to turn on the headlights when in Auto setting. This sensor is integrated into the higher spec windshield. Most likely you have the very basic rear view window like I did. From a salvage yard you can break off the sensor. There really is no way to attach it onto your windshield, but you can plug into its plug found behind where the sunroof's buttons are.

Since it is always in an area of darkness you essentially have day time running lights. But the Auto feature works and now you can add fog lights using the new switch.

 

I attached a rain sensor, it's part of the rear view mirror on cars with it. You can attach it to the windscreen with clear silicone.

Sorry for the delay. Here's two pictures of the ARB bumper with fog light and one pic of my switch setup. Last one shows one of my 7" Hella lights. The box on the bumper is the adaptive cruise control radar from a Range Rover Sport. The fog lights are wired to the factory fog control switch. The Hella lights are wired to a switch panel in the center console. Third picture is a picture of my ham radio setup and center switch panel which has controls for 1. linking my dual batteries, 2. displaying voltages of both batteries, 3. winch control, 4. Hella light switch, 5. wired 'on' switch for my ham radio, and 6. a switch to supply aux battery power to the panel when the car is off (this lets me start the car with both batteries linked in parallel if the main battery ever runs down).
