Final follow up, I replaced the exterior A pillar trim clips, cleaned the sun roof drain lines, removed the wheel fender trim and wheel well trim to clean out all the stuck debris (this is where the sunroof drains). Had a good rain and still had water coming in. Final step was to install a rain diverter over the fresh air duct under the cowel. Got the idea from DakotaTraveler. Attached some pics. Used an aluminum no trespassing sign that I bought from the local hardware store. Drilled a few holes a secured with rivets. Also caulked the water tub in the underside of the cowel.

had a few more rains, bone dry, and water is discharging freely from the fenders as it should.
