Default Locking Gas Door?

Good Morning to you all! I jumped in the truck last night to run a quick errand. I noticed that the gas tank was almost empty. I had just filled it up last week. Looked at the miles traveled, 3.7.......some dirtbag had stolen $75 worth of gas (gotta love gas prices in So Cal). I have often wondered why there is not a locking gas door on the LR3 or Range Rover Sport. Other than a locking gas cap, is there any other reasonable way to lock the gas door on these vehicles? thanks Phil....empty in La Jolla........

Did they still your gas or did your level sender fail?

read codes with GAP to confirm.

I hadn't thought of that. I will try to add gas. The gauge shows almost empty. The average miles per gallon shows 8.5, it usually shows around 15 mpg. I tried to syphon gas out of the tank when I first got the truck. I couldn't get anything out. I will return and report. Phil

Well it wasn’t the fuel level sensor. Phil

I’m always afraid I’ll find a busted fuel door and a drained gas tank! And keyed gas caps are a pain in the butt...

My door locks. Not that it would help much, its plastic. If they want in, they can get in pretty much any fuel door on any vehicle.

You can buy a lockable replacement fuel cap from Staub.I have been using it for years, right after a fuel went up over 4 bucks in NJ in 2008
