I have an OTC scanner with euro update but for Land Rover it just brings up engine and smog stuff no ABS or any other programs that are in Land Rover. Does any one know if OTC scanner will have updated software for Land Rover? Which code reader did you order? Cheap one that has enough to check and reprogram suspension faults but wanted to replace it after I fix the Clunking sound. Scanner I am looking at is a GAP with key on eBay.

Okay okay....hold up. So that info, about the PO having replaced the T-case before is relevant. I has the T-Case replaced in my '06 a while back, and the Tech forgot to update the software. I got a "clunk" sound consistent with clutch packs not being calibrated, similar to what you'd get in the locking rear diff. IIRC, I had a corresponding fault logged. I did the software update/calibration using the GAP tool and lived happily ever after.

So, here are your steps:

1. Don't drive it.
2. Get the GAP tool and no other scan tool.
3. Do the Transfer case calibration technique (it's in the GAP manual).
4. Live happily ever after.

Just hope that damage hasn't been done to the clutch packs or other center diff (T-case) internals.

Hahahaha....you're welcome, amigo.

I see you are trying to use post-quoting and not quite getting it. It's okay, you'll figure it out. Also Camel Trophy is my "level" on this board, like yours is 4WD Low. My login is "HOUM_WA" because HOUM is part of my last name, and I live in Washington state. Sort of lame, but whatever.

Good to know at leased were in the same time zone. Thanks for the information and the little gear grinder is going to be parked for a week and when the UPS guy show up tomorrow, I will send him back with that cheap scanner I bought un-opened. Now I have to work on something else like my f-350 4x4. One thing I do know, the LR3 rides like sitting on a pillow compared to my truck. And thank you houm_wa.

Order the GAP II diagnostic Sunday, and it shipped Today coming FEDX, and it will be here on the 1/24! Looks like I will be updating the programming so I can get rid of the Clunk. Now it time to Pray and hope the Clutch packs have no damage. Thank you all for the information to get my LR3 rolling.

Good luck Joed with the repair. As an aside, in my opinion we need different moderators (if there even are any) to enforce courteous behavior standards on this site.But... alas, that is not the case currently. Which is a large part of why I don't spend all that much time here anymore. In any case, welcome to the Rover club!

Thank you tracyc for your support. I kind of like this site because it is helping me become more Intune with my LR3. I do not know anything about Land Rovers because this is the first time owning one. The LAND ROVER FORUMS offer me a ton of experience, strength, and hope to get the job done. I look forward to reading more posts. Thank you ALL.

Houm_wa nail the problem. I got my IIDTOOL BT G3 today and calibrated transfer case clutches. Now the LR3 drives like a champ! Tomorrow I will be using the tool to calibrate Range Sensor. I love this tool it is a great buy for $528 from Lucky 8 Off Road Equipment. Looks like a good place to buy parts to. Thanks for the Help everyone...
Love this, Forum!

Glad to hear it!

This forum helps me so much, that it's nice to be able to do the same now and then. Also, and this is for @tracyc as well. Text is always tone deaf. I wasn't meaning to be a jerk in my initial response, it was more of a tongue-in-cheek (joking) response while trying to better understand your vehicle's symptoms.

Congrats on the fix and you'll be happy with that GAP tool, I'm sure.
