That's totally fine. I'm not saying that they cannot be daily driven. I'm saying that other vehicles can do it as well or better. The place the LR3 shines is the "do anything" aspect.

I’m no master(de)bater... but I think daily driving fails under that category.

I bought an LR3 18 months ago. When it runs well, it is the best driving suv I ever owned, versatile, capable, and great for cruising or getting through a blizzard on mountain roads. Unfortunately, it has sat in my driveway undergoing maintenance or repair for a week here, or a month there, for nearly 6 out of the 18 months: Multiple suspension faults, Key fob wires corroded, Dryer cracked, rear valve block corroded, Ashtray wouldn't close, intermittent Cruise Control fault, Rear passenger door wouldn't lock, Air tube popped out of a shock, Rear upper hatch wouldn't open, Trailer hitch stuck, Broken hitch key, Lug nuts rattling, broke the flimsy OEM scissors jack, Fuel line disconnected itself at front of tank (Fuel all over cat, tow truck), Faded trim, Cowl warped, Intermittent no start (bad ground wires), Low voltage warning on radio, Bad starter, Transmission slipping (Mechatronic sleeve leak), Parking brake jammed, SRS warning light, Transmission cooler pipes rotted and leaking, Sway bar squeaking and rattling, A rotor rubbing a backing plate, Windshield trim flying off, A/C dies in a heat wave, corroded steering pump lines... These are all "known issues" with LR3s, and there are many others that I haven't encountered yet, like thermostat housing cracks, broken coolant tee, bad brake switch, etc. Add routine maintenance and every couple of weekends there's been something that needs attention requiring a change in plans. I've learned to give it a monthly "once over" to try to stay ahead. I've never owned a vehicle requiring this much "maintenance". It's been like owning a dog that needs constant attention. My other car is a '96 300zx which has needed nothing but tires and a water pump over 22 years. Owning the LR3 has become a hobby. I love working on cars, and I love my rover, but I've come to see it as a beloved toy, not a tool. Regretably, I can't recommend it as a family driver.

I use my LR3 on/off road and my wife drives it as a D/D. Beats a Grand Cherokee, H3, or an older BMW X5, or Volvo XC90.

Sure, but if you ONLY daily-drove it, the X5 and XC90 would both be better choices.

To the poster prior to you, sorry you got one that was not cared for prior. That is the risk taken buying an LR3 pre-owned, unfortunately.

My wife only drives it for D/D use and she loves it. Good visibility, good get up and go, she loves the exhaust note (I removed the resonator under the back seat), stops very good, and the rear seating config is very well thought out with 3 individual middle seats, drop the middle for cargo while leaving the car seats for the kiddo’s in place, split gate makes loading groceries easy.

I'm glad that your wife likes it, but that does not refute my point. She might love an X5 or XC90 even more.

Guess the take away is that 4 out of 5 people like the LR3 as a daily driver
