I’ve got the HD package in my Rover and need to potentially replace the front passenger cv axle. I went to the dunes this weekend and while mobbing around split the boot and got tons of sand into the joint. I ended up driving a couple hours like that and may have torched it.
I swear I remember seeing that the HD package came with beefier axles. Am I taking crazy pills?
Best case scenario, I need a new boot. So would I need a bigger diameter boot?
Worst case, I need a full joint replacement. Do I need a different part number? Any tips on replacing that for as little $ as I can without buying crap parts?
Cant help wit the size but i just yesterday replaced both boots on my front left axle, i used an OEM GKN boot kit as it was only $40 .
The standard shaft on my TDV6 is exactly 1" / 25.4mm, not sure if the HD package only had upgraded rear axles because of the locker or all 4.
I've only heard about the rear axles being different for the locking differential, and on roverparts.com they do not have separate front axles for HD vs. non-HD, while they do offer HD vs. non-HD for the rear.

Yes that's what i would have thought since its only the rear locker that would put extra load on the axles.
