Hi all,
We have just bought a 2007 Disco 3 with mechanical problems.
We were hoping for something simple but no...
After getting it home and lifting the bonnet, the oil pump has a hole in it and the crank has seized.
Is this definitely a new engine or is it worth buying a new oil pump and then further investigation?

If it seized the crank the rods and cam bearings are likely toast. So most likely new oil pump and a basic rebuild.

 

obviously you don't own a D3.

 

I have broken down six AJV8 4.4 motors and never seen an oil pump problem. Normally crank bearings from deferred maintenance.

im guessing something took out the oil pump.
