This 05 lr3 4.4 has had a p101 maff code for 6 months. Fuel and performance were starting to be affected so bought the new maf oe. 30 miles later the light comes on for a p0171. tech replaced maf under warrenty, smoked intake, says he fixed small vac leak at oil seperator. Now idle unstable on top of p0171. resmoked everything, no leaks in intake or crankcase small amount of smoke comeing out at egr between egr cooler and elect solinoid (this normal on the 05+?). crankcase is under vac it seems. original maf the computer called bad actually makes it run the best but still lean and only notice unstable idle if you really are paying attention. Both new ones make it worse. What gives. any clue. thank you for help

 

0101 isnt the maf.

its the throttle body acting up.

clean the throttle plate and it will go away but do so gently.


oh and the 0171 and 0174 if no leaks it might be gas related. take a fuel sample and test for too much ethanol.

The shop should have a guage if they are smart and dealt with the issue before.

only premium.. only premium but some stations have abnormal mix of ethanol to gas causing issues as well.
