Question About LR3 Fan Clutch Nut Removal
Good morning. I'm in the process of changing my belt and tensioners on my 2009 LR3. After researching the difficulties that folks have had loosening the fan clutch nut, I decided to go ahead and order these tools (see link). They're very long and looked to be very high quality. I'm assuming that the pulley tool is designed to use the existing pulley bolts to hold it in place. However my pulley bolts are not quite long enough (or perhaps the tool is too thick) to thread the bolts back in enough with enough bite to secure the tool. I don't see a way to ask a question on Amazon and in the comments people were saying how they had the nut loose within 10 to 15 minutes with this tool. Also, there was no mention in the reviews about having to buy or use longer bolts. Unless I'm missing something, I'm assuming that's what I'm going to have to do in order to get this tool secured to the pulley. I was just curious if anyone else has used this particular set, and if you were able to use the original fan pulley bolts.

Welcome I ended up getting it off and the two with three holes did not properly line up with my boat holes. The other tool with one holes, I was able to just find a longer bolt and secure it that way, and was able to hold the pulley enough to break the fan nut loose.
The nut was tight and this tool was certainly long and had the leverage that it needed to loosen it. Thank you for the replies, I appreciate them.

Exactly. Got it done and was smooth once that fan nut was loosened. The set that I referenced above was a bit pricey, but the leverage (25") long and thickness (1/4") did the job at least for me and was worth it in my opinion.
Right...I was under the impression from the description that the tool with the 3 holes would line up with the holes on the 4.4 pulley, but it didn't. However I was able to make it work just using one hole. Anyway, at the end of the day, I'm happy I got the job done.
