Radio Aux Input Volume Booster
Some time ago I saw a post that someone had used a wired-in device to boost the input of ipods, etc. through the aux input plug. I have noticed a big difference on the volume using the radio/cd vs. the Aux. plug. Did a search and can't find the thread. I did find a battery operated solution but it was $99, a bit steep. Does anyone recall the thread or has anyone used another device or found a solution for the volume issues with the aux plug? thanks Phil
When I looked for the same thing you're looking for I found that PHP sound shocker and the sound shocker pro. The pro is definitely way too much, the quality got way worse but volume was higher. I MIGHT try the normal sound shocker but I doubt it will help that much. The guy who makes them was pretty nice about me returning mine. So maybe worth a try.
This is what I use for music, volume is good, just need to crank it a bit (around 22-28 is great). A few others have used them with success.
at least a year old and still going strong. EDIT: the bluetooth bit is not for increasing aux input, but works pretty well, and is a little louder than standard phone to aux to stereo.

I bought one of these last month and easily wired it in:
RCA Audio Amplifier Pre Amp Adjustable Line Driver Signal Booster LD10 Red White | eBay
If you end up buying it gimme a call and I can walk you through the steps.

The RCA Audio Amp looks interesting. How did it turn out for you. Did it give the aux in the boost needed? If so, I am getting one or two. One for the LR3 and one for the Range Rover Sport. How does it wire in? thanks Phil
Turned out great. The unit has separate gain controls for left & right channels. I bypassed the factory plug, and ran a new aux-in cord out my center console. It's pretty easy if you can crimp.
