Steering Vibrations
I have a problem that I have yet to solve. My 2005 LR3 has some steering vibrations. Previously, it had a wobble, but that has since been corrected with new lower arms and new tie rods.
The problem presents itself pretty much anytime the vehicle is in motion. Right before I had the lower arms done, I had all 4 (relatively new tires purchased in June) road force balanced to rule out any problems with the tires. The vibrations are pretty much always there when moving, at times it can get worse, particularly after braking. I have seen mixed feedback on brakes causing vibrations without braking.
I have noticed a few things that leads me to believe it may be the brakes causing this. The vibrations seem to intensify with braking and after braking. If I open my door while coasting down the road and have a listen under the truck, I can hear what sounds like the brake pads rubbing against the rotors.
So with all the information above...
Is it normal to hear the pads against the rotors while not braking?
Is it possible these vibrations are being caused by the brakes even though I’m not braking, or is there another cause that I should be looking towards?
Thanks in advance.
