Just curious, what does your noisy transfer case sound like? Symptoms?

Have had a light metallic scraping/grinding sound audible mostly outside the truck (with windows down) since I bought it. Mechanic said it was brake pads rubbing on rotors, but I don't think I buy it.

I thought mine was a Wheel Bearing starting to go, that's the sort of sound. I spoke to my Indy Tech and he said he does not bother to fix the T Case he just swaps in a recycle unit from a lower Mileage LR3/LR4 its cheaper.

light metallic sound: I had that once and it turned out to be a loose heat shield (like the ones around the spare tire).
