VCT/VVT Sprocket Replacement help
So I have a 2007 LR3 4.4L V8 with about 118K miles. For about a year I have had the dreaded cold start VCT banding at start up that has slowly gotten more and more common on every start. So it looks like I am going to replace the VCT Sprocket here soon. Since it appears that I am going to have to take of the entire front half of the engine the questions is what additional maintenance should I do? I think it is only banging on one bank but should I replace the sprocket both sides? Should I also replace the timing chain tensioners while I am in there? There appears to be no consensus on that. An advice would be greatly appreciated.
Tensioners and guides are a no brainer .
you need the timing tools to lock down timing on both heads and flywheel before removing anything. Also need the pulley remover tool.
means both valve covers have to come off as well as front cover
