Well that stinks, gas tank leak, seal?
Hooray!
Smell is gone, sounds like a punk band name from the 90s............, but.....I had the fuel tank cover and seal replaced. I just ran out of time, it was hot and I don't have a lift. I took it to a local shop that mainly works on Japanese cars. I have dealt with them for years. They dropped the tank and immediately found the a crack in the fuel tank cover, it was a hairline leak on the top. I will try to add a photo later. It took them about two hours, mainly waiting for the cat to cool down. They only charged $165. Cover was around $120 and the seal was $8. Took it home on Saturday and thoroughly washed the bottom area around the tank. Added a few gallons today and had a spirited drive into the office. No fuel smells! What a relief. Love this vehicle. thanks for all of the helpful comments. Certainly a fyi project, but for $165 in labor, it is hard to justify crawling around, dealing with leaking fuel and tweeking my neck.......Phil
