That looks really nice. Different look than mine; but I dig it.

Default SUV's all the rage with the beautiful people.

.. and Land Rover is acting like they will discontinue the LR3/4 body.

You guys make it continue to look current.

I also gather the beautiful people are parking their Lambo's and buying SUV's such as the FFRR - all the fad now, hence Aston Martin is coming out with an SUV Aston.

Love it! How do your HID's reflect being completely blacked out? I left some
Silver on the inner part of the HID for mine. But after seeing yours, wish I opted for the ladder lol planning on installing a halo around the HID and a segmented LED halo around the brights. All after I make my 2300 mile journey back to TN.

Thumbs up

you can black the whole headlight out because hid projector headlights dont use chrome to reflect the light, all the light is being reflected and focused out of the round projector lens, but for the high beam halogen light i left it all chrome and it works great.

Default LED vertical strip

I just noticed the vertical LED strip - it looks good.

How are you guys opening up the headlight assemblies?

Are you using a heat gun or cooking the whole assembly in an oven, and if so, at what temperature?

I remember when I first replaced an HID bulb - it was a scary proposition for me given the cost of a new assembly - with time and experience, it is now routine but a few years back, not so.

I just used a heat gun i got from walmart, I took all the bulbs out. It started off by just changing the d2s bulb ($100 owch) and i decided to black out the headlights because to me the huge chrome square headlights was an eye sore and took away from the clean look of the lr3. Once you heat the parameter really good then you could be able to pull the lens off but note that there are 4 small screws holding it together. I also decided to cut the orange side marker and blinker to just a thin reflector like on the newer models but then you will have to change the indicator bulb to on of a orange color. Had anyone had any luck with the led turn signals?

Default LED turn signals - no....

I would be really careful regarding installing LED turn signal bulbs.

For certain, you have to add those load resistors to each bulb; that is one mod I would just put off.

The signal light and brake light circuits can cause enough problems when they are stock - add more variables and I suggest you purchase a good pair of hiking boots.

Plug a LED tail light trailer to your 3 some day to get a feel for the challenges - at least it unplugs.

Ok thanks for the heads up. So I'm guessing that the land rover uses some pretty intricate wiring.

Default tangled is a better word

Intricate is a nice term, tangled is probably not accurate either; bleeding edge probably best describes the wiring and their systems.

You may recall many years back Ford was using a light bulb in their advertising campaigns suggesting Ford had a better idea. Well that campaign is over but one of the better ideas was to use Land Rover as the launch manufacturer for some of their new concepts.

The idea was that once they got the concept to work in a reliable manner in Land Rover vehicles, then the system was ready for Ford.

Ford get free testing and engineering from the likes of us and Henry and his sons profit.

One of the new small cheap Cadillac's passed me a couple days back and while it had LED taillights, the signal lights were tungsten. I assume GM decided that the cost to adapt all the systems to LED signal lights could not be justified on the little Caddy - hence I predict there is a long future for tungsten filament bulbs yet.

The new body GM pickups are getting projector headlights but the tail lights etc, remain tungsten and will so for a long time yet.

Ford I think is fooling with LED tail lights on their high end limited production pickups but that is about it.

What's. The problem with led? My 91 mr2 has led tail lights from the factory. The only thing I don't like is the led behind the gauge cluster.. thanks for all the info, the more the better
